Home workouts
For those that love living an active lifestyle, the current restrictions around leaving your home and spending time in group training scenarios will require some creativity in order to maintain the level of fitness we’re accustomed to.
Exercising at home is a fun and inexpensive way to spend time while we’re all stuck in our homes, so to make it even easier we’ve put together a list of the easiest exercises to get you started on your home fitness journey.
You won’t need any equipment, large space or expensive clothing. You can do these exercises together in one session, or in increments during the day.
If you’re pushing your body and you’re feeling the exercises then we promise you’ll start to feel fitter, stronger and happier without the need to leave home.
- Push-ups: Perfect form is essential when doing a push-up. Start with a variation you can complete with good technique. Progress to the next level when you can do 10 to 12 reps without dropping your back, stopping short or shaking unsteadily.
- Lunges: Start by doing static lunges if you struggle with balance or form, and hold on to a chair if you need to! When you can do 10 to 12 lunges on each leg without support, try changing it up and trying another variation.
- Squats: Always perform a squat with your feet hip-distance apart. Your hips should sink behind you as if you are sitting in a chair.
- Planks: A plank exercise strengthens the abdominal muscles and those that support your back. Begin by holding the plank position for 15 seconds. As you get stronger, progress to 30 seconds, then 60 seconds, then hold it for as long as you can and try and beat your previous time!
Maintaining fitness while indoors isn’t impossible, it just requires a bit of planning, so don’t be afraid to clear some space, put some music on, and get yourself moving!
